DO YOU KNOW AN EVERYDAY HERO?
Montréal, April 30, 2012 – Cogeco launched a major campaign today aimed at recognizing the
efforts of Everyday Heroes. At Cogeco, we believe everyone has the potential to be an Everyday
Hero, be it a friend or neighbour who reaches out to help a person in need, or somebody who
volunteers in their community.
Cogeco believes in authenticity in its relations with its community. Indeed, its brand promise “How
Can We Help You?” is emblematic of both the company’s chosen approach to business and the
quality of its customer service. In keeping with that promise, using its Facebook pages in Ontario
and Québec, Cogeco has decided to encourage good deeds in the community by urging its social
media followers to take part in a simple and entertaining contest: EVERYDAY HEROES.
The idea is simple: participants nominate their Everyday Heroes via an application available on
Facebook. Each Hero receives a notification, accepts the nomination, and in so doing becomes
eligible to win a prize. Each Hero is also invited to “pay it forward,” and nominate his or her own
Hero. And so on… Full details are available as of today on the page Facebook.com/Cogeco
(English/Ontario).
Prize structure
– One prize per day per province, in the form of a gift card worth $100, will be awarded to
Heroes and the persons who nominated them, for a total prize amount of $24,000.
– Each week, Cogeco will select two “favourite” stories and reward the winners with a gift card
worth $200, up to a total prize value of $6,400.
– Stories that get the most votes will be eligible to win the Grand Prize of $5,000* awarded at
the end of the contest, June 22, 2012.
Cogeco encourages all social media users to share this initiative with their friends and relatives
today, and start recognizing people who do things help others, through their actions large or
small!
