Cogeco Data Services New State-of-the-art Data Centre Scheduled to Launch in
Spring 2015
Construction underway and on track for new 100,000-square-foot facility on the island of Montreal
MONTREAL, February 10, 2015
Cogeco Data Services, a Canadian provider of fully managed hybrid ICT
solutions, is pleased to announce that its new 100,000-square-foot data centre on the island of
Montreal is scheduled to launch this coming spring.
The new state-of-the-art facility, located in Kirkland and designed to Tier 3 standards, will provide
customers in Montreal and the surrounding area with access to advanced colocation, managed IT and
cloud services that are secure, redundant, scalable and monitored 24/7/365 to ensure seamless
protection and high-service availability.
“We are very excited to add another advanced facility to our growing data centre footprint,” said Tony
Ciciretto, President and CEO, Cogeco Data Services and Peer 1 Hosting. “The new centre is specifically
designed to meet an increasing demand in the Montreal region for reliable and secure ICT solutions.
Cogeco Data Services’ addition of a new ultramodern data centre underlines our unwavering
commitment to providing the region’s businesses with access to world-class ICT services that facilitate
and improve their operations and service delivery each day,” added Ciciretto. “This new facility,
combined with our wholly-owned network and cloud infrastructure highlights our commitment to
continued growth in the Quebec market.”
Abundant and reliable power and a cool climate for the majority of the year make the island of Montreal
an ideal location to house the new data centre. The facility will complement the 1,500 route kilometres
of fibre optic cable Cogeco Data Services already owns and operates on the island.
Upon completion, this facility will be the fifth location in Cogeco Data Services’ growing data centre fleet
and will bring the company’s total data centre capacity to over 200,000 square feetthe equivalent of
12 NHL sized ice surfaces. Cogeco Data Services currently operates three facilities in the Greater Toronto
Area (GTA) and one in Barrie, Ontario.
