COGECO CONNEXION ANNOUNCES THE EXPANSION OF ITS FIBRE OPTIC NETWORK TO THE MUNICIPALITIES OF SAINT-ADOLPHE-D’HOWARD AND MORIN-HEIGHTS

Montréal, June 6, 2016 – Cogeco Connexion is delighted to announce it is expanding its fibre optic network to the municipalities of Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard and Morin-Heights in Québec’s Laurentians region. This expansion project represents an investment of more than $1.4 million and will be deployed in several stages.

The project targets a significant section of the territory of Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard, specifically the areas of the village, Petit-Lac-Long, Domaine-Bastien, Petit-Lac-Sainte-Marie, Lac du Cœur and Domaine Alpine. In Morin-Heights, the expansion will cover Lac Franc as well as the Tourtour sector, Blue Hills and the Chemin de St-Adolphe between Route 364 and Rue de l’Inuit. The fibre optic network will run directly to residents’ homes, enabling them to take advantage of all services offered by Cogeco Connexion, including television, high-speed Internet and telephony. Installation work, whose initial stage was completed in December 2015 in the Petit-Lac-Long sector, will be carried out over several months.

“Our network’s continuous expansion into growth markets is one of our business priorities,” said Louise St-Pierre, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cogeco Connexion. “Cogeco has been active in Québec for nearly 60 years and we are extremely proud to increase our commitment and our investments in the Laurentians, in keeping with our mission to optimize the power of our connections for our customers and to develop genuine relationships with them.”

For her part, Johanne Hinse, Vice President, Sales, Consumer Market, and Community Relations, said: “Extending our network to Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard and Morin-Heights fits with our determination to further establish ourselves at the very heart of these communities while remaining attentive to the needs of their citizens.” She added: “At Cogeco, proximity to the communities and quality of service are an integral part of our basic values, so it is with great enthusiasm that we announce the deployment of this highly advanced technology in the region.”

Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard Mayor Lisette Lapointe welcomed Cogeco Connexion’s project: “Nowadays, access to a dependable and affordable Internet network is crucial to ensure our citizens’ quality of life, especially for municipalities outside urban centres. This investment is excellent news for Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard and its citizens, and we would like to acknowledge Cogeco’s cooperation on this project.”

Residents newly served by the fibre optic network will be able to take advantage of the full range of Cogeco services, such as subscribing to TiVo® service, a multi-television recorder able to record six HD programs simultaneously, and viewing online content with direct access to Netflix, YouTube and Facebook. Cogeco Connexion will also offer a range of telephony and high-speed Internet services, with download speeds of up to 120 megabits per second and the capacity for unlimited data transfer in some packages.

For this project, Cogeco Connexion plans to communicate directly with citizens over the coming months about the startup of the new network. For more information about Cogeco Connexion, residents can visit cogeco.ca or call 1 800 665-5151.
