COGECO CONNEXION ANNOUNCES EXPANSION OF ITS FIBRE OPTIC NETWORK, BRINGING SERVICE TO THE CITY OF SAINT-JÉRÔME-DE-MATANE

Montréal, February 1, 2016 – Cogeco Connexion is pleased to announce that it is investing more than $250,000 to roll out a fibre optic network that will serve several homes and businesses in the city of Saint-Jérôme-de-Matane. Work to install the network will begin in February 2016, with service to be activated in the ensuing months. The fibre optic network will extend directly to homes and businesses, enabling citizens of Saint-Jérôme-de-Matane to enjoy the full spectrum of Cogeco Connexion services, including television, high-speed Internet and telephony.

“Cogeco Connexion already owns and operates a fiber optics network of over 11,000 km in Ontario and Québec,” states Michel Blais, Vice President, Customer Solutions, Cogeco Connexion. “The ongoing expansion of our network into high-potential markets is a business priority for us. To that end, we are leveraging several different leading-edge technologies that can enable very high speeds. In the case of Saint-Jérôme-de-Matane, we have chosen to roll out fibre to the premises,” adds Mr. Blais.

Cogeco Connexion will henceforth offer its range of residential and business services to the premises served by the new network. Residential customers will be able to subscribe to Cogeco TiVo service, which includes a Whole Home DVR with the ability to record up to six shows in HD simultaneously, high-speed Internet service providing connection speeds of up to 120 Mbps and unlimited downloads with select packages, as well as home phone service allowing customers to keep their current number. Business customers, meanwhile, will enjoy competitively priced packages including telephony, high-speed Internet, cloud computing applications, and more.

“We are proud to be expanding our network to serve residential and business customers in Saint-Jérôme-de-Matane and to soon be providing them with optimized services,” enthuses Daniel Boisvert, Vice President, Marketing and Innovation, Cogeco Connexion. “Roll-out of this fibre optics network will not only enable us to deliver all of our currently available services, but will also give us greater flexibility to implement the products of tomorrow.”
