ATLANTIC BROADBAND IS FIRST TO MARKET WITH GIGABIT INTERNET SERVICE IN CONNECTICUT

Company Also Announces New Faster Internet Speed Services

WATERFORD, Conn., September 16, 2016Atlantic Broadband, the nation's 9th largest cable operator, today announced the first Gigabit internet service in Connecticut. Effective immediately, both GigaEdge (residential) and Pro GigaEdge (business) internet services are available to more than 37,000 homes and businesses passed in eastern Connecticut communities including East Lyme, New London, Niantic, Montville, Oakdale, Quaker Hill, Uncasville and Waterford.

The company’s Gigabit service marks the arrival of revolutionary internet speeds to enable an entirely new level of user experience. Atlantic Broadband’s GigaEdge internet speeds are more than 100 times faster than the average residential DSL speed, while Pro GigaEdge is 20 times faster than the fastest DSL download speeds available to businesses today in eastern Connecticut.

With GigaEdge’s significantly faster and more powerful internet speeds, users are able to surf, stream, download, work, and game online at the same time, like never before. Customers will be able to download a two hour HD movie in 32 seconds and send a large file (250Mb) back to the office in just 40 seconds. And, with over 28 percent of U.S. households using 10 or more devices in the home on a daily basis[1], GigaEdge offers enough speed for everyone to be connected at the same time.

Atlantic Broadband is fully committed to bringing affordable Gigabit internet service to the communities it serves with pricing starting at $89.99/month for new residential customers and $249.99/month for new business customers.

“Atlantic Broadband is excited to deliver on its promise to bring cutting-edge speeds to the Connecticut residents and businesses we serve. And, we are thrilled to be the very first company in the state to deliver these residential speeds,” said David Isenberg, Atlantic Broadband’s President and Chief Revenue Officer. “GigaEdge and Pro GigaEdge will transform the way people communicate, work, and play online and we believe it has the power to positively impact the local economy and attract new businesses to the region.”

Atlantic Broadband’s GigaEdge services were unveiled today at the Lyman Allyn Art Museum in New London. The launch event featured local government and business leaders and gave local residents the opportunity to demo GigaEdge.

“As we celebrate nearly one year of serving eastern Connecticut, we are tremendously proud to bring GigaEdge and Pro GigaEdge to the region,” said Charles Hanley, Vice President and General Manager, Atlantic Broadband Connecticut region. “We are committed to continuing to provide the fastest internet speeds, the most complete entertainment, and the best hands-on local service to the communities we serve.”

Additionally, Atlantic Broadband has also launched new residential and business internet services in the GigaEdge footprint (East Lyme, New London, Niantic, Montville, Oakdale, Quaker Hill, Uncasville, and Waterford) with new offerings and speeds, with its fastest speeds going from 120 Mbps/10 Mbps to 1 Gigabit or 1,000 Mbps/50 Mbps.
