PRESS RELEASE
For immediate release
Cogeco Cable’s High Speed Internet continues to improve
with greater Wi-Fi access
Montréal, November 7
th
, 2007 — Cogeco Cable announced today the extension of its Wi-Fi Internet
access to the Kingston and Windsor areas with more than 100 new hot-spots. In addition to being
available for free to all Cogeco High Speed Internet (HSI) customers in Ontario, the service has also been
extended to all non-Cogeco customers on a pay-per-use basis.
Last March 2007, Cogeco launched its Wi-Fi Internet access in Ontario with nearly 150 access points
spread throughout Burlington, Oakville and Hamilton.
“Wi-Fi continues to grow in popularity as more and more people need an Internet connection to work,
study or surf while they are on the go. We are proud to be the only major Internet service provider in our
market to provide its customers with free Wi-Fi access as part of their HSI subscription.” said Ron
Perrotta, Vice President, Marketing at Cogeco Cable. “Cogeco has now expanded its services by
deploying in more cities, as well as making it available to non-Cogeco customers at a very competitive
price. We’re very pleased to bring this service to the communities we serve.”
Existing Cogeco Cable HSI customers in Ontario will continue to benefit from this service, for no
additional charge. Non-Cogeco HSI customers will now be able to access the Internet and their email
accounts outside of their home or office with a simple authentication process using text messaging via
their cellular phone. A two hour session will cost only $5.00 and will appear on their cellular monthly
invoice. This session is val id for 7 days.
Wi-Fi access points have been deployed at locations where people gather such as cafés, restaurants,
recreation facilities and libraries in Burlington, Hamilton, Oakville, Windsor and Kingston. Additional
details about the Cogeco’s Wi-Fi Internet access along with the complete list of Wi-Fi access points can
be found on Cogeco’s website at Co geco.ca/wifi.
