Cogeco Cable enhances its high-speed Internet offering
Montréal, April 27, 2006 Today, Cogeco Cable Inc. upgraded its high-speed Internet (HSI)
offer in order to continue to provide our customers with the fastest Internet experience possible.
Starting today, the download speed of our Standard HSI service will increase to a maximum of
7 Mbps in all the areas served by the Corporation where the HSI service is available.
Furthermore, Cogeco Cable is increasing the combined upload and download bit cap for each
HSI service, making its Ontario offering even more competitive. For the Pro service, the limit will
triple, going from 30 Gb to 100 Gb. The Standard service limit will quadruple, going from 15 Gb
to 60 Gb. Finally, the Lite service (known as Mini in Québec) limit will quintuple, going from 2 Gb
to 10 Gb.
Subscribers will not be required to spend more for these improvements. Cogeco Cable’s HSI
Standard service is currently on promotion and is available at a monthly rate of only $34.95, for
twelve months, if combined with a digital television subscription.
“More and more people are choosing our HSI services. In the second quarter of fiscal 2006,
more than 17,000 new customers chose Cogeco Cable’s HSI services. In addition, according to
Ipsos Reid’s fourth quarter 2005 Canadian inter@ctive Reid Report, people spend more and
more time on the Internet. As a result, they download more and more Web pages, documents
and audio-visual material. In our continuing efforts to improve our offering, substantially
increasing our bit caps and the HSI Standard speed was the logical thing to do,” said Mr. Ron
Perrotta, Vice-President, Marketing at Cogeco Cable.
Cogeco Cable offers its customers among the most secure and fastest high-speed Internet
services of their category in the areas it serves. Indeed, the complete suite of F-Secure security
services, recognized as one of the most secure protections available on the market, is included
at no extra charge for subscribers to the Standard and Pro services and at a small cost for
subscribers of the Lite service (known as Mini in Québec).
