ATLANTIC BROADBAND DEPLOYS GIGABIT INTERNET SERVICE IN MIAMI (DISPONIBLE EN ANGLAIS SEULEMENT)

First Widely Available Gigabit Internet Service in the Area Brings Increased Bandwidth and Speed to Residential and Business Customers

MIAMI BEACH, Aug. 29, 2017 – Atlantic Broadband, the nation's 9th largest cable operator, today announced the widespread availability of its Gigabit internet service in Miami Beach and surrounding areas. Effective immediately, both GigaEdge (residential) and Pro GigaEdge (business) internet services are available for homes and businesses in Miami Beach and surrounding areas including Aventura, Bal Harbour, Bay Harbor Islands, Golden Beach, North Bay Village, Pinecrest, South Miami, Sunny Isles Beach, Surfside, Brickell, Wynwood, the Biscayne corridor and downtown Miami.

The company’s GigaEdge and Pro GigaEdge service marks the arrival of the first widely deployed Gigabit internet speeds in Miami Beach and surrounding communities. These powerful internet speeds will enable an entirely new level of the user experience.

With GigaEdge’s significantly faster and more powerful internet speeds, users are able to surf, stream, download, work, and game online at the same time, with greatly enhanced speed and reliability. Atlantic Broadband’s fastest speeds will increase from 250 Mbps/20 Mbps to 1 Gigabit or 1,000 Mbps/50 Mbps, allowing customers to download a two-hour HD movie in 32 seconds and send a large file (250 MB) in just 40 seconds. With more than 28 percent of U.S. households using 10 or more devices in the home on a daily basis[1], GigaEdge delivers faster speed for multiple users to be connected simultaneously, without any interruptions.

“With the much-anticipated launch of GigaEdge and Pro GigaEdge, we continue to enhance our position as South Florida’s premier communications provider, delivering unbelievably fast Gigabit internet speeds, the most complete entertainment, and the best hands-on local service available to the communities we serve,” said Atlantic Broadband’s Vice President and General Manager, South Florida, Elizabeth Michelsen. “And, with today’s launch, we celebrate the completion of the final phase of Atlantic Broadband’s $6.3 million ‘FastForward Miami’ initiative. In addition to Gigabit internet, this investment, which began in 2016, has also delivered significant HD channel additions, new Spanish-language and international channels, enhanced digital picture quality and sound, and greater reliability across our network.”

Atlantic Broadband is fully committed to bringing affordable Gigabit internet service to the communities it serves with promotional pricing starting at $89.99/month for new residential customers and $199.99/month for new business customers with a 3-year agreement.
