UNLIMITED WIRELESS INTERNET NETWORK AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS IN RESIDENCE AT THE CÉGEP DE RIMOUSKI, THANKS TO COGECO CONNEXION

Montréal, December 1st, 2016Cogeco Connexion is proud to announce that it has concluded a major agreement with the Cégep de Rimouski, calling for the installation of an unlimited Wi-Fi network in all of its student residences. This network will have multiple access points and allow download speeds that clearly outperform those of most mobile networks thanks to a dedicated fibre connection, making it possible to avoid network congestion.

As of September 2017, the Cégep de Rimouskis four seven-storey towers with their 410 student housing units will be equipped with a stable, reliable Wi-Fi network allowing some 430 students to benefit from unlimited Internet access via their smartphone, tablet or computer, regardless of where they are in the residences. This project will be deployed in two phases.

Thanks to an experienced team present in the field to ensure close ties with the decision-makers of the Cégep de Rimouski, Cogeco Connexion was able to develop a solution customized to the needs of the institution. Construction of this new fibre optic network at the cutting edge of technology started on July 6 last. The first phase of the deployment has now been completed and the Blue and Yellow towers now offer their occupants unlimited Internet access. The agreement between Cogeco Connexion and the Cégep de Rimouski runs for seven years.

“The Cégep de Rimouski needed a robust infrastructure capable of handling the constant increase in online activity. We are proud that the institution trusted the reliability of our service and the strength of our hybrid network to equip its student residences, thereby offering its students added value,” explained Antoine Shiu, Vice-President, Business Solutions Sales. Mr. Shiu, went on say: “At Cogeco, being close to the communities we serve and ensuring quality service are integral to our core values. It is with considerable enthusiasm, therefore, that we embark on this partnership with the Cégep de Rimouski.”

“Access to a reliable and affordable Internet network is essential for ensuring the quality of services offered to students living in our residences. The services proposed by Cogeco Connexion meet their ever-growing online access needs,” added Hélène Fortin, Administrative Manager of the Cégep de Rimouski’s student residences.
