COGECO CONNEXION ANNOUNCES THE EXPANSION OF ITS FIBRE OPTIC NETWORK IN THE SAINTE-MARGUERITE-DU-LAC-MASSON REGION

Montreal, January 26, 2017 – Cogeco Connexion is proud to announce an investment of more than half a million dollars in the roll-out of a fibre optic network serving several hundred households in the area of Chemin Sainte-Marguerite and Chemin Masson in Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson located in the Regional County Municipality of Les Pays-d'en-Haut.

This project targets the sectors of Lake Walfred, Sommet vert and Joli-Bois Street. Running directly to the homes, this fibre optic network will allow residents to enjoy the full range of Cogeco Connexion services, including television, high-speed Internet and residential telephone service. Cogeco Connexion has already started work leading to the implementation of the network, which is slated to be in service in late fall 2017.

“A presence in Québec for some 60 year now, Cogeco is proud to be increasing its commitment and investments in the Laurentians, a highly important market for our company,” noted Johanne Hinse, Vice President, Sales Consumer Market and Community Relations. “Proximity to the communities we serve is one of our core values, and we are pleased to offer the municipality’s residents access to a powerful, reliable and affordable Internet network.”

The mayor of Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson, Gilles Boucher, was delighted with Cogeco Connexion’s announcement, stating: “The quality of the services provided to our citizens is important to us. With the roll-out of a fibre optic network, our residents will now have access to the full range of Cogeco Connexion services, particularly high-speed Internet via fibre optics. Connection to high-speed Internet carries a number of economic, cultural and social advantages. It will foster the arrival and retention of new residents while contributing to the creation of a better business environment conducive to attracting companies to our town, and the establishment of new ones.”

“Extending our network and allowing a growing number of consumers to benefit from greater connectivity is one of our key business priorities,” stated Daniel Boisvert, Vice President, Marketing & Innovation. “We are pleased to offer the residents of Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson reliable and efficient services delivering a peerless entertainment experience.”

Residents who will eventually be served by the fibre optic network will get to enjoy the full range of Cogeco services including the most flexible television offering yet. Allowing them to select the individual channels they truly want, it makes it possible for customers to build customized packages reflecting their interests.

Customers can also subscribe to TiVoTM, a multi-TV recorder making it possible to record up to six HD programs simultaneously as well as view online contents, with direct access to Netflix, YouTube and Facebook. Cogeco Connexion will also offer a range of telephone and high-speed Internet services with downloading speeds of up to 120 megabits per second and unlimited data transmission capabilities on certain packages.
